The sleek, polished barrel-shaped stainless steel case is inspired by the 1969 OMEGA Speedmaster Mark II, featuring a polished crown and push buttons. The flat scratch-resistant sapphire crystal reveals a matt black dial with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a small second at 9 o’clock. These counters are decorated with a bronze ring, an 18K yellow gold ring and a 925 silver ring – a design reminiscent of the medals awarded to the Olympic champions.
The transparent tachymeter scale placed on the sapphire crystal is backlit by means of an aluminum bezel coated with Super-LumiNova. Black and white painted hour and minute hands, chronograph second hand and index fingers are coated with Super-LumiNova, which allows you to read the time regardless of the ambient brightness. The Speedmaster Mark II is the first watch in the OMEGA collection that allows its owner to use the tachymeter scale in the dark.
The bottom of the screw-on case is stamped with the Rio 2016 logo and contains the engravings “Si14”, “Column Wheel” as well as the number of the limited edition of the watch – indeed only 2,016 copies of this model will be manufactured . The satin-finish stainless steel bracelet with screw and pin, a patented design by OMEGA, has a rack and pinion clasp. The length of the bracelet can be adjusted by detaching the outer clasp and sliding the inner clasp.
The Rio 2016 Speedmaster Mark II is powered by an OMEGA 3330 caliber equipped with a Si14 silicon spiral and a three-stage Co-Axial exhaust. The combination of these exclusive components is so reliable that your watch comes with a full four-year warranty. The Speedmaster Mark II “Rio 2016” is waterproof to 10 bars (100 meters). It is presented in a special presentation box delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
